Marbella Club Hotel.
This world wide famous Hotel was the origin of Marbella glitz and the perfect place to reconnect with yourself thanks to the magic combination of beach and mountains. Unlike many other upscale resorts in that it resembles a large Mediterranean village rather than a standard hotel complex. It is low-rise, spread out amongst lush gardens, and feels like a private cottage.
The hotel guests include royalty, nobility, business tycoons, sportspeople, heads of state, Hollywood actors, many other celebrities, and others who just like quality and style in refined surroundings. In this way, the Marbella Club hotel represents Marbella.
The Puente Romano Hotel.

After dinning, the Plaza Village is also a popular spot for cocktails and people gather often there to head to the Suite nightclub or another club.
Puente Romano is popular, thanks to the hotel’s offerings, such as its facilities, restaurants, nightlife, and social scene, as well as fitness and wellness spa treatment and the events and music concerts that take place there.
Marbella Golden Mile Hotels, the consolidation.

You can indulge yourself in elevated gastronomy in any of the 15 refined restaurants, enjoy a cocktail at the open entertainment lounge with bar, relax at the exceptional spa facilities, enjoy open-air venues, its botanical gardens, or play at a world-famous tennis court, in addition, the hotel offers a 24/7 front desk and full-service concierge program. Puente Romano Tennis Club.

Melvin Villarroel, an award-winning architect, left behind a legacy.
Melvin Villarroel was born and raised in La Paz, Bolivia. He went to study architecture in Chile. In 1973, he and his wife first visited Marbella, where they were awarded the contract for the Hotel Puente Romano. This marked the beginning of Villarroel’s long-lasting relationship with the area.
Marbella is an oasis that boasts many beautiful residential complexes with breathtaking gardens, luxurious hotels in different styles, and magnificent private mansions. It has a unique style replicated in other parts of Spain and worldwide. The development of the Costa del Sol was greatly influenced by Melvin Villarroel, an architect who contributed to its growth for over three decades.
He played an essential role in shaping the area’s development, designing hotels, golf courses, beach clubs, and residential complexes along the Costa del Sol and other parts of Spain. His contribution to the embellishment of Marbella was recognized with many awards, including a notable 1994 award from the Marbella City Council.
The structural design of the vacio.
Melvin Villarroel’s architectural approach prioritized the fusion of nature and buildings, focusing on seamlessly integrating structures into the natural features of their surroundings. Central to his philosophy was the concept of “vacío,” or space, which involved limiting construction to no more than 10-30% of the land on his projects.
At the Hotel Puente Romano, which spans 30,000 square meters, only 10,000 square meters were utilized for buildings, while the remaining area was devoted to gardens, swimming pools, fountains, streams, and waterfalls. Villarroel believed that any construction could impact its surroundings. As a result, he sought to balance the client’s need for a safe, functional, and cost-effective building and aesthetics that could enhance rather than detract from the surrounding areas. He viewed the integration of nature and architecture as a crucial aspect of his work and aimed to create harmony between the built environment and the natural world.
One of the notable features of his work was to incorporate the cultural heritage of the location into the design of the building. While being among the pioneers in the Costa del Sol to utilize vibrant colors, tropical woods, and Polynesian-style roofs, he remained loyal to the traditional Andalusian pueblo style as his guiding principle.
Projects in the Costa del Sol.
His renown grew with each project that Melvin Villarroel completed in Marbella and Estepona. Over the years, he built dozens of award-winning projects, many of which have become iconic symbols of the region. These include the Hotel Puente Romano (1978), Marbella Shopping Center (1982), La Alcazaba (1982) – a residential complex in Puerto Banús, an extension to the Hotel Marbella Club (1985), Alcazaba Beach (1987) – a residential complex in Estepona, Marina Puente Romano (1989), Kempinski Resort Hotel in Estepona (2000) – the second generation of his architectural work, La Alzambra (2000) and Ventura del Mar (beachside) residential complexes near Puerto Banús, Urbanization Costalita (1989) – a residential complex in Estepona, Alhambra del Mar (1984) – a lavish residential complex on the Golden Mile, and Torre Bermeja and Cabo Bermejo – both luxury frontline beach complexes on the New Golden Mile, among many others.
