A member of the Leading Hotels of the World since 1982, Puente Romano Hotel also has one of the best tennis clubs in Spain. Synonymous with top players, the club opened in 1980 under the management of Bjorn Borg and Manolo Santana.
The club boasts 10 tennis courts (8 of which are clay) and 4 padel courts plus a gymnasium and shop. The central court has a capacity for 2,500 spectators and the Club regularly hosts important tournaments in which well known players participate. The Club’s central court also holds concerts in the summer.
Melvin Villarroel, an award-winning architect, left behind a legacy.
Melvin Villarroel was born and raised in La Paz, Bolivia. He went to study architecture in Chile. In 1973, he and his wife first visited Marbella, where they were awarded the contract for the Hotel Puente Romano. This marked the beginning of Villarroel’s long-lasting relationship with the area.
